The 3rd of the Warp 10 albums marking the label’s 10th anniversary. This one features IDM remixes of the label’s back catalogue. Weird electronic loveliness.

Do you want bass, bleeps, clangs, clinks & clonks? Then look no further than this superlative release of all the early Warp classics. Play the five tones.

Classic House Grooves

Posted : 6 months, 4 weeks ago on 27 April 2009 04:55 (A review of Warp 10+1 Influences)

A collection of classic house grooves that influenced the stripped down bass heavy techno sound that Warp became so famous for in it’s early years. Good stuff.

Bleeptastic

Posted : 7 months, 4 weeks ago on 29 March 2009 11:39 (A review of Network Records Bleep Era Mix)

This is an excellently crafted mp3 mix available for download at the Sheffield Bleep Blog.

Network Records are one my favourite labels of all time. Many of their early releases are classic techno tunes that along with Warp's early stuff helped define the UK techno movement. These tracks have withstood the test of time and sound as fresh today as they did 15-20 years ago. Check out their two compilation albums Bio Rhythm - Dance Music With Bleeps and Bio Rhythm 2 808 909 1991.

You're having fun

Posted : 1 year, 2 months ago on 10 September 2008 05:23 (A review of Antmusic)

Oh yes having fun indeed, I certainly was. This was my first ever 7" vinyl purchase at 11 years of age. My dad had just lost his job in a Sheffield engineering works & had been given a big wad of redundancy money. He went out & bought a state of the art Panasonic separates system that blew away anything any of the other kids had on the street. I used to play this full blast, the tune pumping out of the speakers whilst I used a couple of mum's knitting needles, hammering away on the sofa arm along to the driving, rhythmic drum beat. I loved it.

Though it must be said that as an 'antfan' I never went as far as putting a white stripe across my face. I did however have a load of 'ant badges', lined up down the arm of my olive green pilot's jacket. That was the height of 11 year old fashion, I thought I was cool as fcuk! Until that is the band released Prince Charming which was considered really poncey at which stage Adam & the Ants fell out of favour to be replaced by Madness, The Specials & all the other 2-Tone bands. Now that WAS truely cool as fcuk!
